Battlespace systems

Exploiting the potential of Network Enabled Capability (NEC) is the biggest challenge facing Defence and Information Management has been recognised as the key to success. Logica is utilising its superior information management capability to play a significant role in delivering the NEC vision:  

• as a partner in core ISTAR programmes we are contributing our Information Management expertise to ensure these systems can interoperate and deliver coherent information to commanders  
• we are a core partner in the Paradigm Secure Communications led team, delivering Skynet 5 the satellite component of the network in NEC  
• we have delivered a Pilot Battlespace Spectrum Management System (PBSMS) to enable all UK armed forces to make efficient use of the electromagnetic spectrum in conjunction with allied and collation forces. Use of leading edge, proven products allowed Logica to implement a low risk solution to meet the Ministry of Defence’s exacting operational, timescale and budgetary requirements  
• we are a NITEworks partner, playing a key role in the experimentation programmes that are shaping the future of networked capability  

Logica enables decision superiority
Decision superiority will be enabled through the effective use of information. Information needs, requirements and management will all lead to the conditions for information exploitation and Logica is playing a leading role on a range of major programmes that will enable decision superiority:  

• Logica is prime contractor for the concept phase of DABINETT, a multi-faceted programme covering a broad range of Intelligence Surveillance Target Acquisition & Reconnaissance (ISTAR) issues including coherent Information Management, Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination and provision of Deep & Persistent ISTAR  
• Logica is a partner in the Thales consortium delivering WATCHKEEPER. This unmanned air vehicle programme will provide the UK armed forces with an essential ISTAR capability delivering information to support decision superiority and will be a key component of the UK’s drive for NEC.  
• the Fire Control Application and Fire Control BISA are the first of the new generation of capabilities that will operate in the BOWMAN era. Through the application of advanced software design, the integration of components and the use of an intuitive user interface Logica is delivering systems that enable significant improvements in the control of mortar and artillery fire on the battlefield.
